On the 7th of May, the TV-RING project carried out its first workshop as part of the Media Web Symposium, in collaboration with Fraunhofer FOKUS. The workshop was followed by 30 participants from the Broadcasting and Media industry, who took this unique opportunity to know in first-hand the initial results obtained with users in the TV-RING project, and actively contribute in defining the future of HbbTV services.

On 7 May 2014, TV-RING organised its first interactive workshop for external stakeholders. The event was co-located with the FOKUS Media Web Symposium, taking place on the afternoon before. Professional and end-user requirements for developing new HbbTV services and applications – gathered through extensive user research in Germany, Spain and The Netherlands/Belgium – were presented and discussed. TV-RING was also eager to learn about participants‘ requirements and challenges in bringing new services and applications on the TV screen. Thus, all participants were invited to join an interactive session to discuss new and disruptive HbbTV service and application concepts based on these inputs.

The TV-RING consortium comprises a range of experienced actors in the HbbTV domain including major broadcasters from three countries. In this workshop TV-RING presented a set of tools that can help to develop state-of-the-art HbbTV services. The workshop also served as a forum for informal exchange of lessons learned during the introduction of HbbTV services.

TV-RING would like to thank IRT for the organization and Fraunhofer FOKUS for their great hosting.
