The i2CAT Foundation, Internet and Digital Innovation in Catalonia, is a research organization located in Barcelona (Spain), whose mission is to promote research and innovation in advanced Internet technology at a regional, national and international level.


IRT is a specialised broadcast and multimedia technology institute. As a non-profit making company, IRT is dedicated to technical research and development for the benefit of the public. Founded in 1956, it is entirely and jointly owned by the Public Service Broadcasters of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (ARD, ZDF, DRadio, ORF and SRG/SSR).

CCMA – TVC is the public broadcaster of Catalonia (6 DTT channels, 4 Radio stations, Internet, mobile/smartphones, etc.).


Retevision (abertis telecom group) is the main spanish broascast network operator, managing several regional and local DTT multiplexes and all nation wide muxes. 


NPO successfully created its HbbTV portal in November 2011. The service is available through digital ether (Digitenne), satellite (Canal Digitaal), glass fibre operators (Glashart, KPN) and through a number of cable operators: UPC- part of Liberty Global , SKV Veendam, CAIWay, Delta and Cable Nord.


Being the 6th European university in the 2008 Leiden bibliometric ranking and 4th in the competitive European Framework Programme for research (FP6), KU Leuven has a rich tradition of learning and research for almost six centuries.

People’s playground (PPG) is based in Amsterdam (NL) and was founded in 2010, on firm background experience in websoftware development, i.e. video/media streaming and backend technology. The last three years PPG has focussed on “ConnectedTV” and has been involved in several ConnectedTV and HbbTV R&D projects for various clients.
